Today would have been my father’s 92nd birthday. The other day I was scanning some articles into the computer and came across this gem. It’s from 1974 in Southwest Art Magazine. He was an irrepressible character and his language in this article lives up to the legend. It can be hard to peer beyond the color of Harry Jackson but I believe this article gives you a real feeling for how much he was a student of art, in all it’s manifestations and why he is such a unique and important part of American Art History.

I also find this article personally interesting because I am about to turn 50. He was 50 when this article was written. It can be like two worlds colliding when you find yourself passing a clearly defined boundary that your parents passed years ago!
Enjoy the article. Also I have posted two more chapters of the Harry Jackson book
Harry Jackson Chapter 6
and Chapter 7
