This series of “accidental” works were done in 1949 in Mexico. Harry Jackson had married Grace Hartigan and they soon after traveled to San Miguel de Allende. While there Harry worked on 3 paintings: Mexican Composition, Toro Rojo del Sol, La Fiesta.
These paintings included passages of dripped paint which needed to be blotted. The Random Monotypes are the result of that blotting.
